HRD Corp Ready

Regulatory readiness

The NSRF mandate is here. Is your organisation ready?

On 24 September 2024, the Securities Commission Malaysia confirmed that all listed issuers on Bursa Malaysia’s Main and ACE Markets, plus large non-listed companies with annual revenue of RM2 billion or more, must adopt the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards (IFRS S1 and S2) on a phased basis.
2025 → 2026

The first NSRF-compliant sustainability reports for Group 1 Main Market listed companies (with a market capitalisation of RM2 billion and above) are due in 2026, covering their FY2025 performance.

Effective from 1 January 2027

Group 1 entities (Main Market listed issuers with a market capitalisation of RM2 billion and above) will enter the full adoption phase. For annual reporting periods beginning on or after this date, they are required to obtain reasonable assurance on Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions and disclose Scope 3 GHG emissions.

Notes:

  • Group 2 (other Main Market listed issuers): Full adoption of IFRS S1 and S2, including Scope 3 GHG emissions disclosures, takes effect from 1 January 2028.
  • Group 3 (ACE Market listed issuers and large non-listed companies with annual revenue of RM2 billion and above): Full adoption of IFRS S1 and S2, including Scope 3 GHG emissions disclosures, takes effect from 1 January 2030. Reasonable assurance on Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions takes effect from 1 January 2029.

With the NSRF timeline now in place, Bursa PLCs have a prime opportunity to invest in their people. Equipping your team with the IFRS FSA® Credential builds in-house expertise that elevates reporting quality, strengthens investor trust, and positions your firm ahead of the curve.
